Welcome To Our Crazy Life

We are the Colls and this is about our life with our triplets. My name is Sandi and my husband's name is Kevin. We got married on Feb. 7, 2004 and instantly started trying to have a baby. 5 years, many tears and loads of help later we found out we were having not one, not two, but three babies!

Braedan, Teagan and Sean bounced into our lives on Nov. 12, 2008 and everything has been turned upside down, flipped sideways and scattered about since then. I’m not going to sugar coat it....it wasn’t easy in the beginning. The NICU, late nights, screaming babies, being thousands of miles from our families because we were stationed in Hawaii, exhaustion and then Kevin deploying to Afghanistan for 6 months the day the kids turned 6 months old......not fun.

But now they are getting older and Kevin has been medically separated from the Marine Corps and we've moved to NY to be closer to family. It's great to finally have family around...... especially now that we've hit the TERRIBLE TWOS triple time!

Even though we are close to family now, we are still learning to survive life with triplets.

All packed up with nowhere to go...until next week!

So the movers arrived bright and early at 8am. I was up at 6am because I had a migraine and was stressing to the max and Kevin got up at 7am. Together we did all the final touches before the movers arrived which included taking the kids to Becky's house to play until school time at 1pm.

Island Movers was the company that did our pack out. They arrived with 2 large trucks and 4 workers. After the first hour I was convinced that we were 1/2 way done and they would be gone by noon, but that's not how it worked out. After the first hour they took a 30min smoke break and then worked for another hour before they took another 30 minute break. You guessed it - they are paid by the hour. When lunch time rolled around they didn't take another 30 min break or even an hour....try an hour and a half! Eesh!

I will say though, it seems like they did a great job. They were gentle with our stuff and seemed to wrap it all up really well. I was honestly impressed with the packing/wrapping job. 7 hours into the pack I was sure that we'd be done by 4pm and have 45 minutes to nap until the kids needed to be picked up at school at 5pm. 8 hours into it (4pm for those counting) we got excited because the house was empty. We just knew that our nap was coming. Um, no! We went out into the garage hoping to say goodbye to the movers, but instead we were greeted with all of our stuff packed into boxes and just sitting in our garage and on our driveway. We were not going to be getting our nap. A little over 10 1/2 hours later, the kids were home from school and standing with us in our driveway waving goodbye to our belongings. Yes, 8am-640pm....it's been a very long day.

The good news is that the packing is done. YAY! Now we just need to clean up the house, repaint 2 little walls and say goodbye to our home. Monday we have our inspection and we'll camp out with some friends for 2 nights before boarding our plane and saying ALOHA to beautiful Hawaii.

The movers drew pictures on some of the boxes to remind us of sunny Hawaii while unpacking in the frozen tundra

Goodbye stuff, see ya in New York!
